The twenty six letters in English are known as Alphabet. It means in English there is only one alphabet.

Answer: English is a language.
Question. What is language?
Answer: Language is a medium of communication. When we talk about communication, we talk about sharing of ideas.
In English there are five vowels and twenty one consonants.
The five vowels in English are:
A E I O U
Before vowel sounds ‘an’ is used.
Examples: An apple
An elephant
An inkpot
An ox
An umbrella
Before consonant sounds ‘a’ is used.
Examples: A book
A cat
A dog
A jug
A papaya
Apart from five vowels and twenty one consonants, there are 44 sounds in English which are very important for correct pronunciations. We will discuss them later on.
